Ellie's 7

a little catch up

ok... So i'm behind. Not a big surprise. A few weeks ago, I got to go on the 4th grade trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with Noah. Before we even left, one of my charges announced that he felt like he might puke. Hmmm... I sent him up to sit with his teacher!! All ended well with a fun day and NO vomit on the bus. Always a bonus. Noah is a fun guy to hang around. He read, I read, and we were both happy!

Austen was asked to join the cast of "Law and Order: Fairy Tale Unit" (the 7th-9th grade play) about a week before the performance!! She was thrilled, to say the least. She played the cow and was the cutest cow I've ever seen!! She was supposed to be "Over the Moon" about something, and I'm just not sure she was even acting. The whole cast did a great job and we loved watching the play!

The last pics are from the most recent field trip... Aidan's trip to the fire station. He was in awe of the firemen and listened quietly. (that's huge for him) He climbed up to sit in the driver's seat, and even got to spray the water! SO cute. I think the field trips are over for the year, and I'm kind of sad!

happy spring

I have been driving around town amazed by the sights... the blossoms, the snow on the mountains, the GREEN everywhere, and the big, puffy clouds! Fresno is seriously beautiful this year, thanks to all the rain we've received. I've been dying to go out and take a few pictures, so we took an hour after church to do just that. The kids grumbled a little when I told them the good news, but when I heard all the oohs and ahs, I knew they were happy they had gone. Everywhere we looked there was beauty... it'll all be gone soon, so take the time to go check out spring wherever you are.

Noah's Big Day

Noah had a big day... He was part of a colorguard that raised the flag at his school assembly. He and 4 boys from the ward were able to participate. They did a great job, and the assembly felt extra special. He was also honored at the assembly for receiving his "Block MV" award... something he earned by participating in different areas at school... Academic, Arts, Athletics and Leadership. It was a ton of work, but he earned the plaque... and has the chance to earn more "medallions" for it each semester. Noah is a good kid to have around, I think. :)

LOTS of snow

Our much anticipated weekend at the cabin. This is our 6th year of going up to Shaver to hangout with friends for the weekend. It is a treasured tradition. I spent Saturday watching the snow fall while reading a good book... serious therapy for me!! I have needed to do that for months. (sit!!) I love hearing the giggles of 12 kids and 6 adults!! We laugh, eat, and play.

Monday was spent on the slopes... It is SO gorgeous up there right now. There is so. much. snow. Everyone did a great job... especially Aidan! He took his first ride on the lift with Papa... and skied down the "big mountain". Maybe I can even ski next time we all go up!

Farewell, dear cabin...we can't wait until next time!

Piano Recital 2010

I have a great job! I get to teach something I love to wonderful students. I hold an annual recital and I am always so happy with how it turns out. This year was no exception. It was a very nice event. I'm a lucky piano teacher!

Happy New Year!

2010 is already in full swing... we welcomed in the New Year with the Robertsons... a mellow evening at our house... or as mellow as it gets with Rock Band at full volume! :)

I always feel so energized in January... it starts when I put away all my Christmas stuff and the house looks so "bare"... it inspires me to keep going and I organize until the mood dissipates. I have thrown out BAGS of stuff (or given them away) and there's no end in sight! We are doing some minor remodeling and that only adds fuel to the fire. My real motivation is to try and at least start the year with some kind of order.... I know it will be hard to maintain, but while the urge is there, I am going with it!! Happy New Year!!
